About Us

Our Mission

Empowering Alaskans with the digital skills needed to thrive in today’s connected world.

Our mission is to provide accessible digital resources and training opportunities for all Alaskans—especially those in remote communities. By offering practical tools for students, educators, organizations, and businesses, we aim to build stronger, more connected communities and help bridge the digital divide across the state.

Our Vision

At Alaska Digital Partners, our vision is to make technology education accessible, practical, and empowering for individuals and communities across the state.

In much of rural and remote Alaska, communities are not connected by roads. Access to neighboring villages, family, business partners, and essential services often requires air travel, waterways, or seasonal routes. Geography shapes daily life — and it shapes opportunity.
When physical access is limited, digital access becomes essential.
Our vision is to strengthen connection across Alaska by equipping communities with practical, accessible digital training resources. We believe distance should not limit knowledge, business development, or community capacity. By expanding digital literacy and technology confidence, we help ensure that geography no longer defines opportunity.

Background

In 2022, the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN), on behalf of its 74-member consortium, was awarded a $35.1 million grant by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration through the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP). Our consortium represents a diverse coalition, including 31 Tribes, 32 Village Corporations, six regional non-profits, four regional Tribally Designated Housing Entities, and the Alaska Housing Association.

The AFN TBCP grant aimed to (i) strengthen Tribal capacity to effectively utilize broadband technology, and (ii) deliver lasting, sustainable benefits to Alaska Native communities. The Alaska Digital Partners website, made possible through TBCP funding, fulfills these goals by providing training courses, resources and guides to empower individuals and communities with practical and applicable digital skills and knowledge.

Contributors

In maintaining the goal of providing long lasting sustainable benefits to our communities, AFN partnered with Alaska Village Initiatives to further develop and maintain the use of our Alaska Digital Partners website.
